First crack at Blogging - Get to know me!!

Hello Blogger World!

This is my very first blog post so I thought I would introduce what this blog is about and my little family to all of you!  Please bear with me as I build my blog knowledge and writing skills in the coming posts.  This will be a catch all blog.  I love exploring new things and when doing so, I always try to find posts from an individual who has also tried whatever it is that I'm starting so that I can see how my experience relates or differs.  That right there is what I want to do on this blog.  Some of the many things that I will be sharing include beauty posts (Ipsy monthly subscription), fad diets i.e. that 3 Day Military Diet making it's way around Pinterest, recipes, shopping deals (I love a good ol' Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom sale), and the occasional animal lover post!  So let's get started!

I guess after all that I should probably introduce myself now, I'm Joy :)  I'm a 20-something Oklahoma girl raised on a farm now living in the wonderful city of McKinney, TX with my oh, so handsome boyfriend and all of our fur-children!  We have lived here for almost 2 years and could not have picked a better area in Texas.  We are still exploring our area and are constantly finding something new to do here.

I think the most important thing to know about me is that I LOVE animals!  My long-term retirement plan absolutely consists of having a dog rescue and hoping that I die being licked to death by a precious little furball with that awful, yet lovable, puppy breath (ha - I'm kind of kidding).  With that, let me introduce my babies to you.  I may be a little biased but I think they are the cutest.  First up, the rescue mutts!

From left: Maverick, 2.5 years old & Avery, 1.5 years old

That handsome little devil on the left is Maverick McCoy (of course he has a middle name just like a human child).  I found him when he was just a few months old, covered in mites with barely any fur left, abandoned roaming around in some bushes near my neighborhood.  This was on a 100+ degree Oklahoma summer day and I couldn't believe he was even alive in that heat with no water.  He was so relieved when I picked him and carried him to the car.  I took him home, gave him a bath, dropped some serious $$$$ at the vet to get him better and that was it, he stole my heart.

Maverick, headed to the vet just an hour after I found him.
The mischievous grin-bearing little rascal beside him is Avery.  I found her and her sister (who now lives with some medical friends of mine on a farm) in a box one January night when they were about 8 weeks old.  She had the most beautiful blue eyes as a pup but they have since darkened up.

Avery, with her sister, a week after I found them.

Look, I know what you're thinking... How does she find all these adorable little animals?  The answer is, it is a curse that I must burden alone and I have no idea how it happens!

Maverick and Avery have really become my boyfriend's dogs as he did not have animals growing up and I already had 2.  We both love those mutts dearly though.  The next two rascals are my pride and joy (no pun intended ha!).

Meet Gidget, a spunky little Japanese Chin, who likes extremely short walks on the grass only to sit and napping.  She is basically a 5 year old cat, without the claw issue.
Cue The Little Mermaid music "I want to be where the people are..." as the wind blows through her hair...

The cutie patootie below is Holly, my 8 year old Boston Terrier.  She is an amazing little creature that really just wants to chew on toys and cuddle in bed!
Those ears though... *love*
And last but certainly not least in introductions is my wonderful boyfriend, Stephen.  We are going on 3 years together and things are wonderful!  We are just two absolute goofballs that managed to find each other and decided to move out of state together just 3 months into our relationship, eek!  It clearly worked out for the best but man, what a test of endurance for us!

We are clearly very, very serious people...
Well blog reader, I suppose that may be all for my very first blog post!  I can't wait to start posting about all the topics I love and hope that you enJOY (ha - see what I did there?!)reading everything and looking at the pictures, obviously that's always the best part!

Till next time blog lovers!
