Hello September | New Month, New Goals

Yay September! We can finally start to pretend it's fall! I have to say pretend because I'm in Texas and fall is very short here! It has been cooler here with all the terrible weather hitting Houston (donate to help those in need here), which has made it feel a little more like fall. I think that September is one of favorite months in general, I just love this time of year! I'm even more excited about this month because today started the beginning of a wonderful "healthy living" accountability group with some fellow bloggers. I really love the community of bloggers that I have met so far! Let's see how I did on my August goals and set up some new ones for this month - or maybe repeat a few if I failed them in August haha.
August Recap:
BLOG GOALS:
1) Put myself/blog out there more. | I think this was a success! I did a giveaway with a couple of bloggers, signed up for my first blogger event in Dallas (StyleCon this month), signed up for several campaigns (only got one but that is a start), and joined a collective of bloggers for accountability in our fitness goals.
2) Consistently post twice per week. | This was a success... until this week! This post was my only post this week but it was such a busy and fun weekend last weekend with family that I didn't have much time to get my week together especially now fighting off some sickness, ugh.
3) Increase my social media following. | Success! Although I did not hit 1200 for Instagram, I did hit my original goal plus 50. Overall, I gained a total of 192 followers across my social media and I'm pretty proud of that!

PERSONAL GOALS:
1) Lose 10 pounds. | This was a fail-ish. I say that because although I didn't lose the pounds, I lost several inches and went down a pant size (Thanks Orange Theory)! I think that is more important the the number on the scale so I am happy with the results and can't wait to see where I am at after my first month of Orange Theory.
2) Carve out 1 hour 5 days per week to spend reading. | Success! I actually listened to several books while walking in the evenings and on my daily commute so yay me.
3) Bring my lunch to work 3x per week, minimum & limit Starbucks to once weekly. | Starbucks was a HUGE fail but we all saw that coming, ha. I did however end up bringing my lunch an average of 4 days per week this month so that's a win!

September Goals
BLOG GOALS:
1) Consistently post twice per week. I'm keeping this one from last month just to keep up my momentum!
2) Maintain a good mix of blog posts. I want to make sure that I have a good mix of beauty, recipes, fashion, and reviews so that I touch on all aspects that I love!
3) Tweak my old blog content. I really want to go back through and update my "pre-blog facelift" posts to be more consistent with the current look of my blog. I really need to update pictures now that I can take better pictures with my new found knowledge of lighting and such!

PERSONAL GOALS:
1) Lose 7 pounds. Yes, I know, that's a weird number but I like it plus it is closer to the goal of my Dietbet that I just joined. I've talked about Dietbet before and this month I am joining Just Brandi's that starts next Tuesday after Labor Day. You should join me! Since I joined together with some of my boss babe friends in the accountability and have been consistently working out at Orange Theory, this should be a breeze!
2) Get more active in my community. I want to start volunteering and giving back to my community in some way. I haven't decided where or how I will volunteer but I'm thinking on it so stay tuned!
3) Make an organized budget. I need to do this! I want to be able to pay off some debt and get a "we need a 'home' fund" started! Do you have a post on budgeting? Drop it below because I need all the help I can get! I have a love for expensive things.....

With my September goals all lined out, I am ready to conquer this month! What are your goals for the month? Do you have some tips on ways to help me achieve my goals?

  2. I love that you're so specific in your goals! I'm hoping to stay consistent with my blog, grow my Twitter presence and get better about going to the gym!

  3. How your clothes fit is definitely more important than the number on a scale! Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're building muscle and losing inches that's amazing progress. And at the end of the day, being active and healthy is the most important thing. :) Great job!

  5. Great job on losing inches!! That's awesome!!! I have been trying to eat much healthier lately. I live in Houston and so glad Harvey is done and gone. Though we have a long way to recovery. Taking time out to read each day is a. Awesome goal. Good luck with your goals this month!

  8. I'm right there with you on your reading goal! Life & many work projects have gotten in the way of me doing one of my absolute favorite things, and that is reading daily. I am trying to make a deliberate habit of at least 30 minutes at the end of each day, to sort of wind down after very long days.

    We can do it!
